Hot Air – It begins: Federal judge tosses Gitmo detainee’s confession as coerced

This is a limited ruling, but it shows where we are headed.  As I have said before, this is the nightmare result, but at the same time, the most likely result.

A liberal judge will throw out the evidence because he considers GITMO torture.  With no statements from KSM to use against him, we will be dependent on the proven incompetence of the DoJ vs. high paid, skilled lawyers that Islamic countries will provide for KSM.

What will Obama do when the judge rules that there is no evidence in the case and throws it out or when the jury is given no solid evidence he is guilty?  What will Obama do when he can walk out the door as a free man, directly freed by his actions?

Via JWF, the canary in the coal mine keels over.

In a ruling this week, U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan also said the government failed to establish that 23 statements the detainee made to interrogators at Guantanamo Bay were untainted by the earlier coerced statements made while he was held under harsh conditions in Afghanistan.
