Sanders says “lets have a single payer system amendment”. Colburn says “how about you actually tell us what the amendment says. All 767 pages.”

Outstanding, Colburn.  They want to keep all of this stuff hidden and secret so no one really knows what’s in it.  Well, any Senator can make them read the whole amendment, or even the whole bill.  Just this ONE amendment is going to take 12 hours to read.

The Dems are pissed by this for two major reasons.  First, they have to read the whole thing so everyone can hear the secrets they want hidden in it.  Secondly, it gives people time to actually check it out and find out what is going on.

The single payer idea will not fly, and no one expects it to, but the Dems workings NEED to see the light of day.  People need to see what they want to do to us, not for us.  Bravo, Senator Colburn.

Earlier today, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced an amendment to the Reid version of ObamaCare that would have established a single-payer health-care system in the US.  No one expected this to go anywhere; in fact, most people shrugged at its introduction as simply a sop, especially since the public option and Medicare buy-in couldn’t get 60 votes, let alone an explicit single-payer system.  However, Tom Coburn made it into news by following through on a warning from last month, as Philip Klein reports:

Sen. Tom Coburn has just demanded that the Senate clerk read the single-payer amendment offered by Sen. Bernie Sanders — and it’s 767 pages.
