Jobless_rateIt rose, as we all expected.  Who wants to bet on the “unexpectedly” meme will be on this report in the news?

The number of people filing new claims for jobless benefits jumped last week after three straight declines, another sign that the pace of layoffs has not slowed.

Initial claims for jobless benefits rose by 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 472,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. It was the highest level in a month.

Health Secretary Spending $250 Million to Boost Ranks of Primary Care Providers. So what has Obamacare taught us?

Obama-Liar-LiarOh look.  They have to use a huge chunk of funds for “prevention, wellness, and public health activities” to fix one of the flaws in ObamaCare that the Republicans warned about.  So far, now that Obamacare is law, what have we learned?

  • CBO says it will raise costs (link)
  • Budget for Obamacare is all fake and will raise the deficit (link)
  • Obamacare is just the start.  They need tons more money to run this, but adding all the costs to Obamacare would have made it look worse (link)
  • Obama’s claim that you can keep your existing health care is a lie (link)
  • Their claim that Obamacare will not destroy insurance providers is a lie (link)
  • A million people will lose their existing coverage NOW because of Obamacare, and not be covered by Obamacare until 2014 (link)
  • Obamacare was pushed using lies and misrepresentations (link)
  • Most people want the disaster repealed (link)
  • It’s going to cost alot more than they told us (link)
  • and the list goes on and on.

A shortage of primary care doctors looms as one of the stumbling blocks for the Democrats’ new health care law. So the Obama administration is using taxpayer money to “strengthen” the primary care workforce.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced on Wednesday that her department will “invest” $250 million to help “train and develop” 16,000 new primary care professionals, not all of them doctors, over the next five years.
The $250 million is coming from the $500-million Prevention and Public Health Fund for fiscal 2010 created by the Democrats’ new health care law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (see below).

Congress gave Sebelius the authority to administer the fund for various “prevention, wellness, and public health activities.”
