Power Line – I know why the caged bird isn’t singing

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Come on, Obama.  I don’t want to be a crazy conspiracy theorist.  Give me something.  Show me SOMETHING that you are doing that does not directly harm the nation.  Give me something to be able to look at and say “See?  Not everything he does it to try and destroy us".  Please?

The Obama administration’s decision to treat Umar Abdulmutallab as a criminal defendant rather than an enemy combatant is indefensible on the merits. It is also incredibly costly in terms of foregone intelligence. The administration’s combined arrogance and stupidity would be laughable if their consequences weren’t so serious.

Today’s Telegraph carries Philip Sherwell’s article quoting former Senator and 9/11 Commission member Slade Gorton on the issue. Speaking of Abdulmutallab, Gorton says:

"He was singing like a canary, then we charged him in civilian proceedings, he got a lawyer and shut up," Slade Gorton, a member of the 9/11 Commission that investigated the Sept 2001 terror attacks on the US, told The Sunday Telegraph.

"I find it incomprehensible that this administration is treating terrorism as a law enforcement issue. The president has finally said that we are at war with al-Qaeda. Well, if this is a war, then Abdulmutallab should be treated as a combatant not a criminal."

I Thought The Senate Health Bill Was Supposed To REDUCE Costs…

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Ok, so this study says it would raise costs and the parts that help pay for it are unrealistic.

I thought the whole idea behind this was to save costs.  You don’t think… that the Dems were… lying, do you?

The whole idea here was that the increases in health care spending were unsustainable in the long run and their “solution” ADDS to this???

WASHINGTON – The Senate’s plan to expand health coverage to 34 million more Americans would raise costs slightly, government economic experts said in a report Saturday.

Over time, cost-cutting measures could start to reduce the annual increases in health care spending, offering the possibility of substantial savings in the long run. At the same time, however, some of the Senate’s Medicare savings could be unrealistic and cause lawmakers to roll them back, according to Medicare’s top number crunchers.

The study found that health spending, which accounts for about one-sixth of the economy, would go up by less than 1 percent more than it otherwise would have increased over the coming decade, even with so many more people receiving coverage.

Obama Bows To Unions Again: Obama to Meet Union Leaders Over Their Opposition to Cadillac Tax

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Hey, Jackass.  How about meeting with the American People about it?

President Obama plans to meet with union leaders Monday to discuss their opposition to a proposed tax on high-cost insurance plans, a tax that would pay for his health care overhaul plan, sources told Fox News.

The meeting is expected to include leaders from the AFL-CIO, Service Employees International Union and other labor organizations.

Union officials told The Associated Press that they view the meeting Monday as a chance to forcefully make their case that the tax is bad policy and bad politics. Unions contend that the tax would be passed along to workers.

Religion Of Peace, With The Tolerance And Understanding Of Their Faith, Destroy And Deface More Churches In Malaysia.

So how many have to be “misunderstanders of Islam” before we can actually say “Islamic Terror”?

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia —  Firebombs were thrown at two more churches in Malaysia early Sunday and another church was splashed with black paint, the latest in a series of assaults on Christian houses of worship following a court decision allowing non-Muslims to use "Allah" to refer to God.

Hundreds of worshippers whose parish church was partly gutted in a firebomb attack last week gathered at a makeshift prayer hall for their Sunday service and called for national unity and an end to violence.

On Sunday, a Molotov cocktail was hurled at the All Saints Church in Taiping town in central Perak state early in the morning before it had opened, said state police chief Zulkifli Abdullah. He told The Associated Press that the building was not damaged but police found burn marks on the wall.

A broken kerosene bottle with an unlit wick was found early Sunday inside the compound of the St. Louis Catholic church, also in Taiping, said the Rev. David Lourdes. He said it appeared to be a failed attack.

In southern Malacca state, the outer wall of the Malacca Baptist Church was splashed with black paint, police said.

Four other churches were hit by gasoline bombs on Friday and Saturday. All except the Metro Tabernacle, whose parishioners moved their services, suffered little damage, and no one was hurt. The other three held normal services Sunday.

The unprecedented attacks have set off a wave of disquiet among Malaysia’s minority Christians and strained their ties with the majority Malay Muslims.

The dispute is over a Dec. 31 High Court decision that overturned a government order banning non-Muslims from using the word "Allah" in their prayers and literature. The court was ruling on a petition by Malaysia’s Roman Catholic Church, whose main publication, the Herald, uses the word "Allah" in its Malay-language edition. The government has appealed the verdict.

The Jawa Report: Largest Muslim community in US only musters 50 to protest Islamic terrorism

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Can we stop with the standard “only a small minority of Muslims support terror” now?  It sure seems that only a small minority are against it.

The Associated Press reported Saturday that only 50 Muslims showed up at a "Muslims Against Terrorism" protest at the federal court in Detroit on Friday while Flight 253 bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was being arraigned inside. The local Detroit press were more generous with their estimates, putting the number of protesters at 150. That the largest Muslim community in the United States (aka Dearbornistan) could only muster such a tiny number to protest Islamic terrorism is an indication of how great a problem our country faces concerning the sentiments of the Muslim-American community.

From the AP report:

Outside the courthouse, authorities set up metal barricades and limited foot traffic. One demonstrator held a sign that read: ”No U.S. Rights For Terrorists.”

About 50 men and women identifying themselves as Detroit-area Muslims chanted ”We are Americans” as they marched behind the barricades to denounce terrorism. About a dozen of them carried U.S. flags or signs with messages such as ”Not in the name of Islam.”

ObamaCare Opponents Removed From Sen. Reid’s Town Hall Meeting, Media Mum

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

harry reid fuck youNice.  I will enjoy watching him lose his job.

As the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Friday, Reid and Company did everything within their power to stage this meeting in order to prevent any dissent:

Sen. Harry Reid declared Thursday that Nevada would benefit more than almost any other state if health care insurance reform becomes law, a pledge he made in a carefully choreographed forum at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, that only a few hecklers managed to crash.

"Who’s going to pay for it?" one woman shouted from the back of the packed Judy Bayley Theatre, several minutes after campus police escorted a young man from the auditorium when he questioned Reid’s statement that the bill he shepherded through the Senate would help Nevadans.

"I’m here to tell you that when President (Barack) Obama signs this bill into law, Nevada will benefit more than almost any other," Reid, D-Nev., said before he was interrupted.

Brown Responds To Dems Threat Of Ignoring Mass. Vote If Brown Wins So Kirk Can Vote In Favor Of ObamaCare

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

As I said, this needs to be addressed NOW, before the election.  Reid and his goons must not be allowed to ignore a legal vote for their own needs.

In reporting on this I hope you will consider the following response from the Scott Brown for Senate campaign:

“This is a stunning admission by Paul Kirk and the Beacon Hill political machine today. Paul Kirk appears to be suggesting that he, Deval Patrick, and Harry Reid intend to stall the election certification until the health care bill is rammed through Congress, even if that means defying the will of the people of Massachusetts. As we’ve already seen from the backroom deals and kickbacks cut by the Democrats in Washington, they intend to do anything and everything to pass their controversial health care plan. But threatening to ignore the results of a free election and steal this Senate vote from the people of Massachusetts takes their schemes to whole new level.

More Evidence That Terror Thrives Under Obama.

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Slammed again.  Bush administration gave high priority to the sort of intel that Obama ignored.  Let’s make that subtle statement crystal clear:  It wouldn’t have happened if Bush was in charge.

Bill O’Reilly reported last night that a new Duke University study revealed that there have been 139 planned attacks by Muslim Americans since 9-11. 41 of those planned attacks were discovered in 2009.
How’s that hope and change treating you?

It must be Bush’s fault.

Related… Not only were there more planned attacks in 2009 but information sharing was flagged and given higher priority during the Bush Administration.
The American Spectator reported:

When Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was placed on the British government’s watch list in May 2009 and banned from entering the country, the U.S. embassy in London (and by extension the U.S. State Department), as well as U.S. intelligence agencies, were notified of this move as part of information-sharing agreements entered into by a number of Western governments after the September 11, 2001 attacks, says a U.S. State Department employee on the condition of anonymity because of concern that by speaking about the situation, their job could be endangered.

“We have agreements with a number of different countries that work with us cooperatively on intelligence matters,” says the State Department employee. “A number of the treaties work through our justice departments or foreign offices or intelligence and interior or homeland security agencies. Several departments here in Washington got the information from London and it didn’t trigger anything within our own system.

This employee says that despite statements from the Obama Administration, such information was flagged and given higher priority during the Bush Administration, but that since the changeover “we are encouraged to not create the appearance that we are profiling or targeting Muslims. I think career employees were uncomfortable with the Bush procedures and policies and were relieved to not have to live under them any longer.”

Harry-Reid-f-u-300x277Double standard anyone?

It was just last month that Dingy Harry Reid likened Republicans who oppose the government health care to proponents of slavery.

Who’s the real RAAAAAAACIST?

The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama’s race during the 2008 presidential bid and are quoted in a yet-to-be-released book about the campaign.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Obama is the nation’s first African-American president.

Michelle Malkin » Dem leader who compared Republicans to slavemasters referred to “light-skinned” Obama and “Negro dialect;” Obama accepts apology, praises Reid on “social justice”
