Obama: My New Security Plan Is To Direct My People To Do What They Were Doing Successfully Under Bush
Wow. Do you notice how many things he has to do like Bush did to make them work?
Was this the "shock" that Brennan (IIRC) promised would be coming out?
In a revealing admission, President Barack Obama said today he was directing U.S. intelligence agencies to begin to do something many had assumed they were already doing: "[A]ssigning specific responsibility for investigating all leads on high priority threats so that these leads are pursued and acted upon aggressively."
"That is a shock because we had such a follow-up system when I was there," said Richard Clarke, the White House counter-terrorism director in the Clinton and Bush administrations. Clarke, who worked on the Obama transition team, is now an ABC News consultant.
What order, or informal "suggestion," by Obama overturned that previous system?
What the hell?
Obama’s entire framework on terrorism has been, until now, entirely in the plane of the perfectly theoretical. He has never had a position of genuine responsibility and could afford to indulge his silly-sod leftist "theories" on how just being super-duper-nice to jihadists would make them love us and make all of this mellow-harshing shit go away.
The left liked to do that with Bush — they could always question him for being, supposedly, too insensitive to the putative rights of terrorists, because they never had the awesome responsibility of protecting people’s very lives. They could kvetch and quibble and posture and play politics and indulge fantasy "theories" to their little hearts’ content.
December Job Losses Worse Than Expected, Except For Healthcare, Which Obama Wants To Gut
One thing the reports in the MSM is ignoring is the “Underemployed” rate. This is everyone who doesn’t have a job or only has a part time job, but wants a full time one, including that arbitrary “discouraged jobseeker” which is removed from the main number.
The “underemployed” rate went up from 17.2 to 17.3, which is 0.1 away from its highest level.
I am sure we will see a “adjustment” later in the month, on a Friday night.
The economy shed far more jobs in December than economists had expected.
The Labor Department announced moments ago that nonfarm payrolls declined by a surprising 85,000 workers last month. Economists had been expecting no change or maybe a small decline.
One bright spot was healthcare which added another 22,000 jobs. Despite efforts by Democrats to "reform" this industry, it remains one of the few that continues to hire having added a staggering 631,000 employees since the recession began in December 2007.

Gateway Pundit – Figures. Dem Leaders Are Stripping GOP Amendments From Health Care Bill After They Were Approved in Committee
More good news leaks out of the secret Dem meetings. Gateway Pundit has more w/video.
Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) today told Greta Van Susteren that democratic leaders are stripping GOP amendments from their nationalized health care bill after they were voted on and approved in committee.
Also today- Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) also urged House and Senate Leaders to accept C-SPAN’s offer to publicly broadcast the health care negotiations like President Obama promised the American public 8 times during his campaign.
House.gov reported:U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan (FL-13), the author of the Sunshine Resolution, today called on House and Senate Leaders to accept C-SPAN’s offer to publicly broadcast final health care negotiations. Buchanan said Congress should not engage in secret, backroom deals when it comes to writing the most sweeping health reform bill in decades.
Buchanan’s resolution, H. Res. 847, has 151 cosponsors and requires that all final negotiations on the health care reform bill be conducted under the watchful eye of the American people. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not allowed a vote yet on the Buchanan plan.

Thought Of The Day: How Did Obama Give A Whole Speech About Terror And Not Say “Jihad”, “Islam”?
Not in his speech, not in the White House review, not in the White House recommendations.
Nothing.
Once again, Obama ignores the reason behind the terror, the actual threat, to protect the terrorists.
Once Again Reality Bitch Slaps Dems. If GITMO Is So Horrible, Why Are The Detainees Going To Sue So They Don’t Get Moved?
- If they managed to escape there, they are in Cuba, not middle America
- We have fully trained soldiers taking care of them right now on a full US Base that will still be there after we close GITMO
- They have a proven track record of not losing prisioners
- 3 prisoners just escaped from an Illinois prison
- They prefer the treatment they get at GITMO than what they would get at Illinois
- We can actually get information from them at GITMO
And all this time the Dems are screaming about the inhumane treatment at GITMO. My god! Someone should let the detainees know. They don’t seem to be aware of it.
Thank goodness we’ll end all their complaining and make Al Qaeda like us again!
But the final irony is that many of the detainees may not even want to be transferred to Thomson and could conceivably even raise their own legal roadblocks to allow them to stay at Gitmo.
Falkoff notes that many of his clients, while they clearly want to go home, are at least being held under Geneva Convention conditions in Guantánamo. At Thomson, he notes, the plans call for them to be thrown into the equivalent of a "supermax" security prison under near-lockdown conditions.
"As far as our clients are concerned, it’s probably preferable for them to remain at Guantánamo," he says.
Awesome: Gitmo Detainees Might Fight Extradition to Illinios, Because Gitmo Is Nicer
Two Strikes: CBS Report Says Dots Not Connected in Ft. Hood/Hasan Case, Either; "It reads like a dress rehearsal for the Detroit bomber case"
Ouch. Good story. Check it out.
Hmmm… Seems like we have a pattern here.
Less than a month after major Nidal Hasan allegedly killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, the Pentagon’s top intelligence officer sent the White House a report detailing an earlier failure to connect the dots. It reads like a dress rehearsal for the Detroit bomber case, reports CBS News chief national security correspondent David Martin.
According to that still-classified report, the terrorism task force responsible for determining whether Hasan posed a threat never saw all 18 e-mails he exchanged with that radical Yemeni cleric Awlaki whose communications were being monitored under a court ordered wiretap.
After the Washington task force decided Hasan was not dangerous, it never asked to see his subsequent communications with Alwaki.
In both cases, a complete lack of seriousness about terror.
That’s two strikes.
And I’m not saying that’s two strikes. Obama’s top aide on military and foreign policy said that.
"White House national security adviser James Jones says Americans will feel ‘a certain shock’ when they read an account being released Thursday of the missed clues that could have prevented the alleged Christmas Day bomber from ever boarding the plane," USA Today writes. "’That’s two strikes,’ Obama’s top White House aide on defense and foreign policy issues said, referring to the foiled bombing of the Detroit-bound airliner and the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in November. In that case, too, officials failed to act when red flags were raised about an Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Hasan. He has been charged with killing 13 people. Jones said Obama ‘certainly doesn’t want that third strike, and neither does anybody else.’"
Obama blames this on Bush — a systemic failure, he says, and of course he wants you to know the system exists as it did under Bush.
Well, right. But see, Obama was complaining we’d "taken our eye off the ball" on Al Qaeda and all of that in his year-long brief against Bush. And his promise was to put his eye back on the ball.
Instead, he’s dicked around with stimulus that doesn’t stimulate and health care reform that doesn’t reform.
