Ahh, the irony. The only thing that would be better would be a blizzard at a global warming convention… oh, wait. Never mind.
LOS ANGELES — On a strip of California’s Mojave Desert, two dozen rare tortoises could stand in the way of a sprawling solar-energy complex in a case that highlights mounting tensions between wilderness conservation and the nation’s quest for cleaner power.
Oakland, Calif.-based BrightSource Energy has been pushing for more than two years for permission to erect 400,000 mirrors on the site to gather the sun’s energy. It could become the first project of its kind on U.S. Bureau of Land Management property, leaving a footprint for others to follow on vast stretches of public land across the West.
The construction would come with a cost: Government scientists have concluded that more than 6 square miles of habitat for the federally threatened desert tortoise would be permanently lost.
The Sierra Club and other environmentalists want the complex relocated to preserve what they call a near-pristine home for rare plants and wildlife, including the protected tortoise, the Western burrowing owl and bighorn sheep.
"It’s actually a good project. It’s just located in the wrong place," said Ileene Anderson of the Center for Biological Diversity, a Tucson, Ariz.-based environmental group.

The armoured anti-riot vehicles have a capacity of 10,000 liters to shoot cold and hot water, and three 100 liter tanks to shoot burning chemical liquids. The water is mixed with paint or tear gas that cannot be washed away. Each vehicle has two guns for shooting liquid up to a distance of 70 meters- it is controlled from inside the cabin. The price tag for each unit is 650,000 dollars. Also, a lot of extra burning liquid, paint, and tear gas was purchased.

Let’s see.
- Incompetent government lawyers, check.
- Rules of evidence results in all the evidence thrown out, check.
- Court dismisses charges, check.
It’s got all the hallmarks of a preview of the disaster that the KSM trial will be.
Let’s say that the government manages to find one or two good lawyers. I know, I know. But, let’s just assume. All KSM has to do is convince a judge, who will probably be liberal, that he was tortured at GITMO. He didn’t get enough TV time or he was woken up too early or something stupid like that. At that point, the evidence goes out the door.
Now keep in mind that people are worried that he will use the trial as a platform to preach his Islamic hatred. I expect that and if the judge has a pair, he will stop that in it’s tracks. What I worry about is what happens when the charges are dismissed.
Let’s continue this exploration of disaster and assume that the evidence is thrown out because some liberal judge thinks that anything having to do with GITMO is torture. What happens then? How about these scenarios:
- The judge throws out the evidence and dismisses the charges. He SHOULD go free at which point, he will have all the press he could ever want to talk about how evil the US is. Hell, he will probably (successfully) sue the US for torture and false imprisonment. Obama is shown to be a absolute fool.
- The judge throws out the evidence and dismisses the charges. He should go free, but Obama sends him back to GITMO or wherever instead. Obama will be attacked by lawyers and international condemnation for failing to follow the law. Obama is shown to be a absolute fool.
- The judge throws out the evidence, but enough remains to continue the trial. AQ will use the evidence tossed to tell everyone we torture and all the other GITMO people will use it to try to get the charges dropped. Obama is shown to be a absolute fool.
- The only way Obama can come out of this shining, is if KSM is found guilty of all charges, muzzled by the judge for the entire case, and sentenced to death. I have to say that this is not very likely.
- Its going to be a disaster for the US and for Obama, and this is just a little preview of what’s to come.

Urbina said that violated the guards’ constitutional rights. He dismissed the government’s explanations as "contradictory, unbelievable and lacking in credibility."
Basically, the Government blew its case because of arrogance and incompetence. But don’t worry, they’ll handle KSM and the other GITMO terrorists just fine. You betcha.
Many on the left will probably be outraged by this. They shouldn’t be, even if they think the guards are guilty. After all, we’ve been lectured by them for years that dismissing charges against people who are obviously guilty preserves the integrity of the system. Mayo Clinic Refuses To Accept Medicare. What Happens To ObamaCare When The Doctors Refuse To Accept The Low Government Pay?
This is the second time I have written about this same subject.
Obama has used the Mayo Clinic as an example of a place that does it right.

Once again, the guys who do it best show that ObamaCare is a disaster.
Here is my big concern. When the doctors stop taking Medicare and ObamaCare, what will the liberals do? They can pass laws forcing doctors to accept them or drastically raise prices that they pay doctors. More than likely they will force it.
But for now, the Mayo Clinic told Medicare to go away.

“Many physicians have said, ‘I simply cannot afford to keep taking care of Medicare patients,’” said Heim, a family doctor who practices in Laurinburg, North Carolina. “If you truly know your business costs and you are losing money, it doesn’t make sense to do more of it.”
