Does the bill specify what size box I have to be locked in or can I choose?

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

I love silly crap like this.

Because of a typo, President Obama signed a bill into law Wednesday that requires passengers who carry firearms aboard Amtrak be locked in boxes for their journey.

Harry Houdini made a career escaping from locked boxes. So did David Copperfield and Doug Henning.

And now, add to that list Amtrak passengers packing heat in their luggage?

It may sound absurd. But President Obama signed a bill into law Wednesday that requires passengers who carry firearms aboard Amtrak be locked in boxes for their journey.

It’s a mistake in the law’s wording. But for now, the clerical error is the law of the land.

Earlier this week, Congress sent the president a massive spending bill that funded dozens of federal departments. Tucked into the transportation section of the legislation are safety requirements for Amtrak customers who carry firearms on board the government-backed train system. The bill Congress passed mandates that passengers with firearms declare they have weapons with them in advance and stow them in locked boxes while on the train.

ClimateGate just got bigger. Russians confirm that Russian climate data tampered with by the British Meteorological Office to show fake global warming

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

Climategate just got much, much bigger. And all thanks to the Russians who, with perfect timing, dropped this bombshell just as the world’s leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to discuss ways of carbon-taxing us all back to the dark ages.

Feast your eyes on this news release from Rionovosta, via the Ria Novosti agency, posted on Icecap. (Hat Tip: Richard North)

A discussion of the November 2009 Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident, referred to by some sources as “Climategate,” continues against the backdrop of the abortive UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen (COP15) discussing alternative agreements to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that aimed to combat global warming.

The incident involved an e-mail server used by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, East England. Unknown persons stole and anonymously disseminated thousands of e-mails and other documents dealing with the global-warming issue made over the course of 13 years.

Controversy arose after various allegations were made including that climate scientists colluded to withhold scientific evidence and manipulated data to make the case for global warming appear stronger than it is.

Climategate has already affected Russia. On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.

The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory.

Sanders says “lets have a single payer system amendment”. Colburn says “how about you actually tell us what the amendment says. All 767 pages.”

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

Outstanding, Colburn.  They want to keep all of this stuff hidden and secret so no one really knows what’s in it.  Well, any Senator can make them read the whole amendment, or even the whole bill.  Just this ONE amendment is going to take 12 hours to read.

The Dems are pissed by this for two major reasons.  First, they have to read the whole thing so everyone can hear the secrets they want hidden in it.  Secondly, it gives people time to actually check it out and find out what is going on.

The single payer idea will not fly, and no one expects it to, but the Dems workings NEED to see the light of day.  People need to see what they want to do to us, not for us.  Bravo, Senator Colburn.

Earlier today, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced an amendment to the Reid version of ObamaCare that would have established a single-payer health-care system in the US.  No one expected this to go anywhere; in fact, most people shrugged at its introduction as simply a sop, especially since the public option and Medicare buy-in couldn’t get 60 votes, let alone an explicit single-payer system.  However, Tom Coburn made it into news by following through on a warning from last month, as Philip Klein reports:

Sen. Tom Coburn has just demanded that the Senate clerk read the single-payer amendment offered by Sen. Bernie Sanders — and it’s 767 pages.

Moonbattery: Midwife Describes Chaos of Britain’s Socialized Medicine

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

docobamaThis is what the US has to look forward to.  Dems use the UK as an example of socialized health care.  It definitely is an example of it.

Britain’s socialized medical system once again demonstrates what we will find when we go over Chairman Zero’s "precipice" into government-run healthcare. Verena Burns, a midwife who recently escaped from the National Health Service into private practice, tells tales of horror:

Welcome to the modern NHS maternity ward. A world of shoddy practice, poor hygiene standards and a shocking disregard for patients’ individual needs. …

Driven by targets and mired in red tape, our NHS maternity wards are becoming baby-producing factories where mothers’ needs come very low on the agenda.

The quicker midwives turn out babies, the more successful everyone tells us that we are. We might as well be producing sausages. It’s utter madness.

I started working as a midwife in Basildon in 1995. I left to work as an independent midwife in January last year because I simply could not bear to let any more women down.

More pie in Obama’s face? Climate Talks Deadlocked As Clashes Erupt Outside

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

I am glad he is heading there for the last day so he can be involved in the historic signing of this.  Actually, I will be glad when he shows up and they can’t agree on crap, because its all about money, not the environment.  One more slap in the face to Obama and his world view.

But then again, I was looking forward to Obama signing some stupid treaty that made us pay a stupid amount of money to the rest of the world and watching Congress and the US turn on him and reject it.

Copenhagen (AP) – Danish police fired pepper spray and beat protesters with batons outside the U.N. climate conference on Wednesday, as disputes inside left major issues unresolved just two days before world leaders hope to sign a historic agreement to fight global warming.

With the talks so clearly deadlocked, Connie Hedegaard, former Danish climate minister, resigned from the conference presidency to allow her boss, Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen to preside as world leaders from 115 nations streamed into Copenhagen. She was to continue overseeing the closed-door negotiations.

WaPo Buries Its Own Poll Showing ‘Public Cooling to Health-Care Reform. Majority of US opposes it.

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

ObamaCareSymbolWell, isn’t this a shock.  Oh, wait.  No its not.

Eight weeks ago, The Washington Post topped its own front-page with its own ABC-Washington Post poll announcing that the public strongly favored a "public option" in health care, by 57 to 40 percent. Their latest poll is much worse: "Negatives abound in poll," read the subhead. So it was buried on page 6 Wednesday. On the front page instead, a happy-talk headline: "Health bill’s prospects improve as Lieberman signals support."

Tuesday’s conservative "Code Red" rally in Washington wasn’t buried in the Post. It was nowhere in the Post.

The actual poll story by Dan Balz and Jon Cohen reports that 44 percent support current health-care legislation, and 51 percent disapprove. Approval of Obama’s handling of health-care has gone sour: 44 percent approve, while 53 percent disapprove. But the Post’s front page is still touting "Health care bill’s prospects improve" as their own poll shows a collapse of public support.

Way to weaken national security, Obama.  What’s next?  Replacing M-16s with NERF?  Maybe replacing bombs with signed pictures of yourself?

Iran test-fired a new missile platform earlier today, the Sajjil-2, a solid-fuel missile capable of reaching throughout the Middle East and into Europe.  It’s exactly the kind of weapon against which the American missile shield would have defended Europe, had we continued to install our systems in Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as the eventual longer-range missiles these tests will produce.  The Iranians used the test to demonstrate its intention to retaliate for any attempt to stop its nuclear-weapons program through military means:

Iran on Wednesday test-fired an upgraded version of its most advanced missile, which is capable of hitting Israel and parts of Europe, in a new show of strength aimed at preventing any military strike against it amid the nuclear standoff with the West. …

More Kevin Jennings news; GLSEN promotes books for kids with illustrations of gay sex

Do I really need to add anything?  Just click the link if you have the stomach for it.

(Big Warning On Content)

We all know how the state-run media feels about Barack Obama but still you’d there would be someone in the democrat-media complex who would be outraged over these Fistgate reports on Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings.

Or, maybe they think that handing out fisting kits (or dental dam kits) and pushing children’s books that show adult men having sex while boy scouts watch to junior high students is acceptable? Maybe, like the folks at Media Matters, this is something they want for their children? Maybe that’s just how they roll? It is strange.

UK News :: Climate change is natural: 100 reasons why

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

Read it all!!!

HERE are the 100 reasons, released in a dossier issued by the European Foundation, why climate change is natural and not man-made:

1) There is “no real scientific proof” that the current warming is caused by the rise of greenhouse gases from man’s activity.
** EXPRESS NEWS: 100 REASONS WHY GLOBAL WARMING IS NATURAL**
2) Man-made carbon dioxide emissions throughout human history constitute less than 0.00022 percent of the total naturally emitted from the mantle of the earth during geological history.
3) Warmer periods of the Earth’s history came around 800 years before rises in CO2 levels.
4) After World War II, there was a huge surge in recorded CO2 emissions but global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.
5) Throughout the Earth’s history, temperatures have often been warmer than now and CO2 levels have often been higher – more than ten times as high.
