Networks, Newspapers Ignore Partisan, Racially-motivated Obama DOJ Action Against Kinston, NC | NewsBusters.org

Well, this is nice.  The DOJ claim that no black Republican could ever be elected.  Even though almost all the predominately black areas voted in favor of this, the DOJ still reversed them.

So is the DOJ saying that a black man could not get elected unless he was a Dem or that blacks only vote Dem or that a black person could never win on their name and reputation without being identified as a Dem?

All the options are highly racist.

The Obama ascendency, the president’s acolytes have been keen on telling us, is the dawn of a new post-partisan era. But a development that undercuts that fiction — the Obama Justice Department’s recent move to scuttle non-partisan local elections in Kinston, North Carolina, on the basis of racial and partisan considerations — has escaped the interest of the mainstream media.

Both the Washington Times (in a Tuesday front-pager) and NewsBusters sister site CNSNews.com have reported the story, but a Nexis search today yielded no stories from print outlets such as the Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today, or Los Angeles Times. Broadcast news programs on ABC, CBS, and NBC have also failed to touch the story. Fox News Channel’s "Fox & Friends" briefly discussed the story shortly before 7:00 a.m. EDT on the October 21 edition with Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund.

A search for news stories about the controversy on Google News this morning yielded only 14 hits, most of them from conservative organizations or blogs.

Below is an excerpt from CNSNews.com reporter Adam Brickley’s October 21 story:

The U.S. Department of Justice is refusing to allow the town of Kinston, N.C., to hold nonpartisan local elections on the grounds that African Americans cannot win election without being listed as Democrats on the ballot.

In a letter sent Saturday by to Kinston City Attorney James P. Cauley III, the Justice Department stated: “Removing the partisan cue in municipal elections will, in all likelihood, eliminate the single factor that allows black candidates to be elected to office.”

The department Tuesday also refused to answer questions from CNSNews.com about the letter.

Kinston voters last year approved changing city council elections to a nonpartisan basis, similar to thousands of other towns in the U.S. – without mention of party affiliation.

Obama is tanking in the polls. I guess someone out there is catching on to his crap.

These numbers are looking bad for Obama.  The more people know, they more they hate Obama.  No wonder why he wants to control the press.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 26% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. That’s the lowest level of Strong Approval yet measured for this President. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13 (see trends).

For the first time during Obama’s time in office, the Approval Index has been in negative double digits for seven straight days. Fifty percent (50%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 66% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove of his performance. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, 18% Strongly Approve and 42% Strongly Disapprove.

Pay Czar Feinberg, Not Obama, Behind Decision to Slash Executive Pay? By what Constitutional authority?

October 22, 2009 Leave a comment

I bolded a section of the quote below.  By what authority does an unelected, unvetted, and non-Constitutionally authorized “czar” get to decide what private companies do?

I don’t care if they were stupid enough to take the “bailout” money, but where does this guy get the authority to decide this?  Come to think of it, where in the Constitution does it say that the President could even set salaries at a private company?

This president is a Chavez wanna-be and needs to be stopped ASAP.

White House pay czar Kenneth Feinberg was the driving force behind the move to order steep pay cuts from bailed-out executives, and did not even seek the president’s approval before making his decision.

The Treasury Department is expected to formally announce in the next few days a plan to slash annual salaries by about 90 percent from last year for the 25 highest-paid executives at the seven companies that received the most from the Wall Street bailout. Total compensation for the top executives at the firms would decline, on average, by about 50 percent.

The sweeping decision, though, came from Feinberg and not from President Obama.

One official told Fox News that Feinberg from the start had the independent authority to work with companies and make such a call. Obama was never required to sign off before final decisions were made.

Obama has secret 2+ hour meeting with left-wing “journalists” and refuses to release who was there. Transparency?

October 22, 2009 Leave a comment

This is getting so bad.

What could possibly have been discussed in President Obama’s meeting with left-wing opinion journalists that required secrecy?

What is being kept from the American public about the two-and-a-half hour confab?

Goodbye, watchdogs. Hello, bootlickers.

How about a full list of those who attended the off-the-record meeting?

Where’s the openness and sunlight and disclosure?

Well, its reached the point where the White House tells MSNBC what to say DURING a show.

This is truly horrible for the US.  The press is FIRMLY under the control of Obama’s administration.

“The White House did just e-mail saying that interaction with Jake Tapper was not heated.”

White House emails directions to MSNBC…
The Obama White House emailed MSNBC during a live broadcast to “correct” them on their coverage of the administration’s attacks on FOX News.

It was nice of MSNBC to admit that they were taking direction from the White House. It’s not like it was a secret.

gitmo-300x224More Obama transparency?

From GOP Rep. Pete Hoekstra’s office, a demand for transparency from the Obama administration on its Gitmo relocation plans:

[Hoekstra,] the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, used a rare, open hearing of a House Intelligence Subcommittee to highlight the fact that nine months to the day after President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order to close Guantanamo Bay, the administration still has not presented a plan and is avoiding transparency with Congress.

“The National Security Act requires that Congress be kept fully and currently informed, but when it comes to Guantanamo Bay, the administration is doing anything but that,” Hoekstra said. “We have asked questions, sent letters and requested briefings, but this committee has received nothing in the way of meaningful answers. The administration’s lack of transparency with Congress and the American people on this critical national security issue has been absolutely shocking, so we had little choice but to use this hearing to speak out.”

Treasonous, Un-American News: Jobless Claims Increase Again

October 22, 2009 Leave a comment

How dare they release this information without Obama’s approval?

Are you stimulated yet?

The number of newly laid-off workers filing claims for jobless benefits rose more than expected last week, after falling in five of the past six weeks, as employers remain reluctant to hire even with the economy showing signs of recovery.

Which signs? You mean the bear-market rally? The market rose under Bush for years and the media was unwilling to call that a sign of recovery, even though the economy actually was, formally, in recovery.

The Labor Department said Thursday that new jobless claims rose to a seasonally adjusted 531,000 last week, from an upwardly revised 520,000 the previous week. Wall Street economists had expected only a slight increase, according to Thomson Reuters.

Economists closely watch initial claims, which are considered a gauge of layoffs and an indication of companies’ willingness to hire new workers.

The four-week average of claims, which smooths out fluctuations, fell slightly to 532,250, the lowest since mid-January and about 125,000 below the peak for the recession, reached this spring. But claims remain well above the 325,000 that economists say is consistent with a healthy economy.

"As usual, much disinformation has shaped the debate surrounding these developments," – Venezuelan Embassy

Sound familiar?

Pres. Obama has described Fox News as "operating basically as a talk-radio format" rather than as a "news outlet."
When NBC’s Savannah Guthrie raised [in a segment of her extended interview of the president aired on Today this morning] the issue of White House attacks on Fox News, PBO first tried to play the statesman, resorting to the old dodge about "the American people" being more interested in jobs and the situation in Afghanistan.
But when politely pressed, PBO didn’t hesitate to fustigate Fox.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: Another issue in the news is the news: we asked the president what he thinks about some of his advisers saying Fox News–known for conservative opinion–isn’t really a news organization.
GUTHRIE: So you think it’s appropriate for the White House to say what is and what is not a news organization?
BARACK OBAMA: I think the American people are a lot more interested in what we’re doing to create jobs or handling the situation in Afghanistan.
GUTHRIE: Fair enough, but your advisers raised this issue.
OBAMA: Well, no, I think that what our advisers have simply said is that we are going to take the media as it comes. And if media is operating basically as a talk-radio format, then that’s one thing, and if it’s operating as a news outlet, then that’s another.  But it’s not something I’m losing a lot of sleep over.

Oversight Panel’s Democrats Lock Out Republicans After Dispute – Political News – FOXNews.com

More of the honest and transparent government under Obama.

The Democratic chairman of the House committee responsible for government oversight has indefinitely locked Republican members out of the hearing room, following a dispute over a mortgage loan controversy.

Kurt Bardella, spokesman for ranking Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Chairman Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y., had the locks on the Republican entrance changed Tuesday.

The move was apparently was in retaliation for Issa’s efforts to subpoena records on Countrywide’s so-called VIP loan program and for a video Issa’s staff recorded of Democrats darting from their chambers a week ago in the face of a vote.

"They say we will have access to the hearing room when the general public does," Bardella told Foxnews.com. "I’m embarrassed for them."

‘This Is The First Step Toward Single-Payer: I Admit That’ | NewsBusters.org

Ed ShultzIs anyone surprised by this?

Barack Obama likes to claim he believes in the free market, even as he lards his administration with what Hugh Hewitt has delightfully dubbed "Mickey Maoists" like Anita Dunn and Ron Bloom.
But Ed Schultz has given away the game.  On his MSNBC show this evening, Schultz said of ObamaCare: "this is the first step toward single-payer. I admit that."
Here’s Schultz’s full statement . . .

ED SCHULTZ: I will admit there’s one Republican telling the truth, and that’s Orrin Hatch, and that is, this is the first step toward single-payer. I admit that.

Schultz was alluding to the Utah Republican’s statement of September 29th, recorded here by Talk Radio News Service, that ObamaCare was a “Trojan horse for a single payer system”.
