WASHINGTON — The White House acknowledged for the first time Friday that it might not be able to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay by January as President Barack Obama has promised.

Senior administration officials told The Associated Press that difficulties in completing the lengthy review of detainee files and resolving thorny legal and logistical questions mean the president’s self-imposed January deadline may slip. Obama remains as committed to closing the facility as he was when, as one of his first acts in office, he pledged to shut it down, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to more freely discuss the sensitive issue.

The Politico reported:

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

Ummm.  What?

Someone explain how this one works.  Dems are looking to introduce a bill that would cripple or destroy private health insurance.  Then they want to tax those same private health insurance plans to pay for it.  Does this seem like burning down a tree to get to the apples?

Of course, its not new.  Dems raise taxes, then have no idea why tax revenue drops.  Cause and effect is not a concept they have figured out yet.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Friday a tax on high-cost health insurance plans is "under consideration" as Democrats search for consensus within their ranks before taking a bill to the House floor later this fall.

The Obama administration shows again and again that it is completely unable to handle… well, anything correctly.

How can these people be trusted with a huge portion of the US economy when a few billion flummox them?

The Obama administration has yet to fully unsnarl the reimbursements from the Cash for Clunkers program, and have claimed that the overwhelming demand caught them by surprise.  In contrast, the latest GI Bill for veteran education, the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, has been in effect for more than a year, with fairly predictable demand curves.  So why did the administration botch tuition payments for tens of thousands of veterans at the beginning of this semester?

The U.S. government failed to send promised college tuition checks to tens of thousands of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars before they returned to school this fall, even after being warned that it was inadequately staffed for the job.

The Veterans Affairs Department blamed a backlog of claims filed for GI Bill education benefits that has left veterans who counted on the money for tuition and books scrambling to make ends meet. …

Out of more than 277,000 veterans who have filed for the college tuition benefits this semester, more than 200,000 claims have been processed and approved, but fewer than 11 percent of the veterans have received the funding, according to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).

The group says it has been contacted by thousands of veterans who have not received their benefits and that they are forced to take out loans or pay the money out of their pockets.

Just imagine what these same people can do when they take over your health benefits!

How long will it take before the media notices the pattern here?  This program has been in place for months, and now it has a whopping 89% failure rate in a program that shouldn’t have a 5% failure rate.  It doesn’t take a claims genius to process and approve tuition reimbursement requests.  They are a lot less complicated than, say, health care claims.

Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. According to the Washington Post, ACORN took millions of dollars intended to go to the poor, and gave them to politicians — and themselves.  Newly-revealed records show that ACORN may have a lot more problems than giving advice to purported child-prostitution traffickers:

Documents released by a Senate Republican on Thursday show that leaders of the ACORN community organizing network transferred several million dollars in charitable and government money meant for the poor to arms of the group that have political and sometimes profit-making missions.

ACORN’s tax-exempt groups and allied organizations, long a target of conservative ire, used more than half their charitable and public money in 2006 to pay other ACORN affiliates, according to an analysis by the tax staff of Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa).

On Thursday, Grassley called the transactions a “big shell game” and said ACORN donors may be surprised by how the liberal group known for helping the poor obtain housing and health care was spending their money. He urged the Internal Revenue Service to take a closer look.

According to the Grassley report, charities “are being used to raise monies which are then funneled to other charities or to other organizations for purposes other than what the donor may have intended. . . . Dollars raised for charitable [purposes] appear to be used for impermissible lobbing and political activity.”

NYT/CBS poll shows Obama losing ground on health care, Afghanistan – Even in their completely Dem heavy, biased poll

Hilarious, Obama even sucks in a warped poll.  They polled 40% more Dems than Republicans.  He is losing with Dems a bit, but where he is really losing with is the Independents.

The latest New York Times/CBS poll has some bad news for Barack Obama, although the two media outlets did their best to avoid it in their sampling.  He has lost ground on Afghanistan, almost certainly from his liberal base, and his media blitz has done nothing to change minds on health care.  His approval ratings remain relatively high, but that has more to do with the sample, which has become an absolute embarrassment in political polling (via Tom Maguire)

Gateway Pundit: Iranian Regime Admits to Second Secret Nuclear Facility

From what JihadWatch said, Obama was planning on releasing this information and Iran one upped them.

"Although the CIA and National Security Agency (NSA) has been tracking construction of the plant for several years, Mr Obama decided it was time to put maximum pressure on Tehran by revealing its existence."  Spencer points out that this will not have the effect Obama wants.

It amazes me that these retards, Dems and Republicans, who deal with Islam have NO understanding of Islam.  In Islam, jihad does not end because your foes put pressure on you.  It does not end because you cave to their wishes.  It stops when all non-muslims are dead or enslaved or when a hudna is forced.

A hudna is a truce for no more than 10 years.  It is offered only when they feel they have no chance of success and its purpose is so they can grow in strength.  Once they feel they can win, the truce is forgotten.  According to Islam, “War is deceit”.

You can’t embarrass these people by showing they are stronger.  A second facility shows that Iran is much stronger and raises their status amongst muslims.  You want peace with Islam?  Destroy those who wage violence, destroy their ability to wage war, and support those who seek to reform.

So far, Obama supports those who wage violence, helps them wage war, and backs those who crush reform.  Great job, Obama.  Way to strengthen our enemies… again. 

Yesterday, President Obama and leaders of the United Nations Security Council signed an agreement. They demanded a serious response from Iran over their nuclear program.
Today, the Iranian regime announced that they have a second secret nuclear facility under construction.
Reuters reported:

Iran has told the U.N. nuclear watchdog it has a second uranium enrichment plant under construction, a belated disclosure sure to heighten Western fears of an Iranian bid for atom bombs.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said on Friday Iran had revealed the existence of the plant to IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei on Monday, just as six world powers and Iran prepare to discuss its disputed nuclear drive on October 1.
