The Jawa Report: They Stop At Nothing. Nothing In The Quest For Power

September 17, 2009 1 comment

Absolutely amazing.  These people are so morally corrupt its shocking.  They pass the law to prevent a Republican governor from appointing a replacement, then change it back when its a Dem governor.

In any other state, I would expect these people to be held accountable for it, but not in Mass.

Massachusetts. Boston Common. The Shot Heard ‘Round The World. It’s getting hard to believe that this is where our nation’s liberty was born.

The Massachusetts House voted late Thursday to change state law to give Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick the power to appoint a temporary successor to the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy until a special election is held early next year.

The vote has drawn controversy because a 2004 change in the law stripped then Republican Gov. Mitt Romney of the power to appoint a successor if Democratic Sen. John Kerry would have won the presidency.

The measure approved Thursday still must be approved by the state Senate and signed by Patrick to become law.

Part of me is fascinated by this, because the gubmint of Massachusetts is acting as though it’s a-skeered that Kennedy’s Senate seat may go to someone only slightly to the right of The Swimmer. Another part is appalled that one of the places overflowing with monuments to our founding on the principles of freedom has been reduced to a sleaze pit of Socialist garbage.

Gateway Pundit: Figures. Osama Bin Laden’s Must Read List Includes Jimmy Carter’s Israel-Bashing Book

The sad part is that I am sure he is not bothered by that at all.

It figures.
Osama bin Laden recommended several books for Americans to read, but one of his favorites is Jimmy Carter’s anti-Israel Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.
This, of course, surprises no one.
Glenn Beck weighed in on Carter’s latest honor:

Game Over: Nuke agency says Iran can make bomb – Atlas Shrugs

Why are we in the UN?  Someone remind me.

The muhammadan IAEA has succeeded in its goal. Dr. Mohamed Mostafa ElBaradei (Arabic: محمد البرادعي‎) and his band of jihadis have succeeeded. Period.

This is the game changer — the globa landscape is forever changed. You may not be able to see it but it’s there. Thomas Sowell said here, "We cannot put that genie back in the bottle — and neither can generations yet unborn. They may yet curse us all for leaving them hostages to nuclear terror".

AP NewsBreak: Nuke agency says Iran can make bomb  Breitbart

VIENNA (AP) – Experts at the world’s top atomic watchdog are in agreement that Tehran has the ability to make a nuclear bomb and is on the way to developing a missile system able to carry an atomic warhead, according to a secret report seen by The Associated Press.

The document drafted by senior officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency is the clearest indication yet that the agency’s leaders share Washington’s views on Iran’s weapon-making capabilities.

It appears to be the so-called "secret annex" on Iran’s nuclear program that Washington says is being withheld by the IAEA’s chief.

The document says Iran has "sufficient information" to build a bomb. It says Iran is likely to "overcome problems" on developing a delivery system.

Breaking: House votes to suspend payments to ACORN – AFYS: So the hell what? It wasn’t an ACORN funding bill

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

Ok, people.  Calm the heck down.  This is stupid.  Yes, this is one of my rare bitch at the conservative ones.

Look.  I am 110% behind stopping all government funding to ACORN and investigating all the crimes they commit as well as the fact (proven by their own corporate powerpoint slides) that they illegally backed Obama.

I am for seeing the whole gang of SEIU ACORN criminals be prosecuted to the fullest extent to the law.

I want to see every tie Obama and the Dems have to this criminal organization see the light of day and shown to the world.

BUT…

Stop touting this sort of crap.  This was an educational bill and the Republicans tacked on a funding issue for ACORN.  The bill had nothing to do with ACORN funding at all.

So, why are we screaming about this person or that person voted for an education bill?

Here’s an idea Republicans…  PUT UP A BILL TO DEFUND ALL ACORN CRAP.  Then lets see who votes for that.

The fallout continues from the undercover videos taken at ACORN offices across the country.  The House has followed the lead of the Senate in voting to cut off funds to ACORN, this time in the Student Loans Bill.  The final vote was a solidly bipartisan 345-75.

How many newspapers will carry this story tomorrow?  How many won’t?

The other story in this vote is the fact that the US has more or less nationalized the student-loan industry:

The biggest change in U.S. higher education finance in 35 years was approved on Thursday by the House of Representatives, handing a defeat to major banks and student loan giant Sallie Mae.

Lawmakers voted 253-171 in favor of legislation that would cut the banks and Sallie Mae out of a large slice of the $92 billion college student loan business, shifting most lending into a program run by the U.S. Education Department.

The bill, supported by the White House, will go next to the Senate for further consideration.

Think of it as single-payer for student loans.  It’s a potential disaster.  We’ll have more on this when it moves into the Senate.

87% of Employers to Reduce Benefits if Health Care Reform Increases Costs

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

Nothing I have to say here.

Employers say they will not absorb any additional costs that result from reform and plan to take actions to avoid doing so, including reducing benefits, raising prices for customers and/or reducing head count.

The survey of 443 HR and benefit executives found that 87% of those surveyed would reduce benefits, 38% were likely to pass the increase off to consumers, 30% would absorb the costs by cutting staff and 27% would reduce salaries and compensation as a counter measure. Somehow we are supposed to believe the 11% of executives that claim their companies will absorb the loss.

What about the possibility of accepting the proposed penalty for eliminating health care coverage altogether and forcing employees onto the government plan?

Among the full survey group, employers expect they would respond to a pay-or-play mandate in the following ways:

  • 37% of employers would provide company-sponsored health coverage that substantially exceeds the standard.
  • 29% of employers would discontinue company-sponsored health coverage and pay the assessment if the per-employee costs of payments to the federal government were substantially lower than their current costs.
  • 26% of employers would provide company-sponsored health coverage at the level of the minimum standard required.

Obama Defends Decision to Shelve European Missile Shield

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

Ok.  Basically, this is Obama bowing to Russia, with one caveat.  I’ll get to that soon.

This missile shield would have protected the US from long range Iranian missiles and as an excuse, Obama is using intel that Iran is focusing on short and mid range missiles.  That does not mean they have no work going on with long range missiles, its just what they are focused on.

The missile shield would have sent a very important message to Russia as well.  “Eastern Europe is not yours.  Never again with there be a Georgia incident.”  The new message is “Its cool.  Do what you want.”

So, yes, Obama caved.  Now for my caveat.

They didn’t want it.  Around 80% of the people in the Czech Republic were against it.  Assuming that poll is correct and shows an almost universal opposition to the missile defense over there, the issue becomes much more complex.

So, now my question becomes, why are these people in office if so many are against it?  Somewhat similar to us, huh?  But this has been in planning for quite a while.  Why haven’t they booted them?  There are some questions as to why the situation is the way it is.

Of course, none of this affect Obama.  If anyone should be dropping the missile defense, its the Czechs, not us.  Obama’s entire concept of defending the country is to give in and pander to all of our enemies.

President Obama on Thursday defended a decision to shelve plans for a missile defense system in Eastern Europe, saying the new strategy was devised in response to new intelligence that shows Iran’s missile threat is not aimed at the United States.

The missile defense system, planned under the Bush administration, was to have been built in the Czech Republic and Poland. The proposed system was pitched as a way to fend off potential attacks from Iran but it became a major irritant in relations with Russia, with whom the Obama administration is now negotiating a new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.

Pelosi: "ACORN? What ACORN?" – President: "ACORN? We Take Accountability Extremely Seriously"

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

Well, this makes sense, actually.  They don’t have time to read the bill, they don’t have time to read any silly newspapers or watch the news.

Oh wait…the MSM didn’t cover it anyway.

Oh yes, the Speaker has the "play dumb" gambit down good:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she is clueless about an amendment to prohibit government funds for embattled ACORN, although it overwhelmingly passed the Senate Monday and the White House is calling for the group to be held accountable.

"I don’t even know what they passed," Pelosi told The Post yesterday. "What did they do? They defunded it?"

Pelosi: "ACORN? What ACORN?"

Obama wants…needs to pass “something, anything”

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

Obama is in a bad spot.  Most of the nation does not want his socialist health care and and his approval index has dropped 5 points in 4 days.

The latest health care stupidity comes from Senator Baucus which seems to have little support except with the MSM.  Heavy taxes on the middle class and fine for having the audacity of not wanting government approved health care.  Wonderful.

I mean there is a good chance the bill would not even be constitutional.  The Congress is trying to justify that they have the power to do this on the Interstate Commerce Clause(ICC).  In other words, “We can force health care on every person in the US because we are allowed to regulate trade across state boundaries.”  They claim that the fact that you pay for health care means that it is a commodity and trade.   Bringing that argument to the point where they can force health care on everyone or bring health care, effectively required the reach of the ICC to become infinite, which the Supreme Court has been unwilling to do.  By that definition, Congress could tell you that you have to own a GM car because it costs money.

So, we have an unpopular, possibly illegal bill that Obama is desperate to pass, if only to save face.  So now what?

The confidence with which President Obama announced his intention to overhaul our health industry has been replaced with desperation to pass—in the words of presidential minder David Axelrod—"something, anything."

The President doesn’t really care what the Democrats in Congress eventually decide to do. I’m sure he’d like it to be as close to his long-envisioned Trojan horse for single payer as possible. But if it’s not possible, all he really wants to do is to sign his name to a bill with the words "Health", "America", and "Choice" in it.

It’s his legacy. I’m serious. You didn’t really think that a man who would write a personal memoir at age 34—before he had accomplished anything noteworthy—would wait around until the end of his term to start working on his legacy, did you?

Obama is the Narcissist-in-Chief. He won’t be satisfied unless he’s left an indelible mark on American life. He had hoped that would include unrestrained Leftist dismantling and reorganization of our economy, foreign relations, and social structure. But now he’s willing to settle for smaller victories if that’s all Congress can tee up for him.

And make no mistake. The Democratic Congress can still pass a bill that will cripple our health care system and Obama will happily sign that bill. A wild animal is never so vicious as when it is cornered and we have backed the Obama Administration into a corner on healthcare.

So What Do We Do Now?

The Greenroom » Forum Archive » ACORN audit already a joke

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

Rocked by a continuing stream of scandals, ACORN is trying to pass them off as the “indefensible” acts of a few employees, but promised an “independent review.”

Who will conduct the “independent review?” Round up the usual suspects:

The Council includes many prominent Democrats, including the man who helped President Obama Transition Team, John Podesta, President and CEO of the Center for American Progress; former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend; Andrew Stern, International President of the Service Employees International Union; and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros.

Cisneros, who worked regularly with ACORN as HUD Secretary, would later plead guilty to lying to the FBI to cover up a political embarrassment. Perfect choice. Townsend is so inependent that she called the stories of ACORN’s frequent involvement in voter fraud a “desperate smokescreen maneuver” masking an extensive coast-to-coast GOP push to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters in 2008. No bias there. Stern heads SEIU, which has a very cozy relationship with ACORN.

Gateway Pundit: Obama Will Allow Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Gaddafi, Castro Into US For UN General Assembly But Will Ban Ally Honduras

September 17, 2009 Leave a comment

I think this pretty much speaks for itself.  We have diplomatically assaulted the law abiding democratic ally (well, they were an ally) to support a socialist dictator wanna-be who was ousted legally by the courts according to their constitution.

We have sided with a Chavez ally and are trying to force him into power.  The State Dept has claimed it was a coup.  The only coup here is the one that Obama is trying to force on them.

I have written about this many times on the site.  The one that lays out the legal reasons Zelaya was removed from office best is here.

Next week the Obama Administration will allow Ahmadinejad, Castro, Chavez, Gaddafi and several other international thugs into New York City to speak in front of the United Nations General Assembly. However, one country’s president will not be allowed into the United States.
President Roberto Micheletti from Honduras will not be allowed to enter into America. The Obama Administration revoked his visa back in July.
For the first time in our nation’s history, the Obama administration is siding with Marxist leaders Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega, Raul Castro and Evo Morales in condemning our democratic ally Honduras.
