Power Line – Obama’s missing millions

People misunderstand, I think.  Obama has taken to saying that the illegal aliens will not be covered.  We all know that’s a lie and that the Dems have blocked any attempts to put a citizenship requirement into the bill, but that’s not the point.

He is using the lower number because he is now removing 17 million illegal aliens.  He can’t have people say that 47 million includes 17 million illegal aliens.  It’s 30 million now… we will just support those aliens anyway.

Only last month In Portsmouth, New Hampshire, President Obama declared: "I don’t have to explain to you that nearly 46 million Americans don’t have health insurance coverage today. In the wealthiest nation on Earth, 46 million of our fellow citizens have no coverage."

Tonight Obama declared that "[t]here are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage.he number of our fellow citizens who have no coverage is 30 million."

These statements can be reconciled. "Nearly 46 million" is "more than 30 million[.]" But this is obviously not what Obama meant. It would be a mistake to reconcile the statements in this way. In any event, both numbers are bogus. It would be a mistake to take either of them seriously.

What can we learn from the malleable, missing millions who provide the pretext for Obama’s proposed takeover of the health care system? He willfully misrepresents the magnitude of the problem. He is not to be trusted with numbers. He does not fear being called out on the obvious discrepancies on the fundamental rationale he presents to support his program, whatever it is.

How many are communists?  How many of Obama’s people are in the White House.  There’s your number.

Just how many communists are there holed up in the Obama White House anyway?
John Holdren, Obama’s biggest radical and Science Czar, slammed the idea of American exceptionalism and explicitly said that we need to redistribute energy and material resources during the Bali Conference on global warming on July 12, 2007.

Premature baby ‘left to die’ by doctors after mother gives birth just two days before 22-week care limit. Welcome to Obamacare, UK style.

September 9, 2009 Leave a comment

You want to see how things are going to be under Obamacare?  Take a look at what happens in the UK.  Politicians make the decisions, not doctors.

Doctors left a premature baby to die because he was born two days too early, his devastated mother claimed yesterday.

Sarah Capewell begged them to save her tiny son, who was born just 21 weeks and five days into her pregnancy  -  almost four months early.

They ignored her pleas and allegedly told her they were following national guidelines that babies born before 22 weeks should not be given medical treatment.

Battle: Sarah Capewell is fighting to have guidelines about caring for very premature babies changed

Miss Capewell, 23, said doctors refused to even see her son Jayden, who lived for almost two hours without any medical support.

She said he was breathing unaided, had a strong heartbeat and was even moving his arms and legs, but medics refused to admit him to a special care baby unit.

Miss Capewell is now fighting for a review of the medical guidelines.

Politicians make the decisions for the military?  Soldiers die

Obama needs to answer the military and the US as a whole and explain why these people had to die for his political needs.

We walked into a trap, a killing zone of relentless gunfire and rocket barrages from Afghan insurgents hidden in the mountainsides and in a fortress-like village where women and children were replenishing their ammunition.

"We will do to you what we did to the Russians," the insurgent’s leader boasted over the radio, referring to the failure of Soviet troops to capture Ganjgal during the 1979-89 Soviet occupation.

Dashing from boulder to boulder, diving into trenches and ducking behind stone walls as the insurgents maneuvered to outflank us, we waited more than an hour for U.S. helicopters to arrive, despite earlier assurances that air cover would be five minutes away.

U.S. commanders, citing new rules to avoid civilian casualties, rejected repeated calls to unleash artillery rounds at attackers dug into the slopes and tree lines — despite being told repeatedly that they weren’t near the village.

ACORN’S Latest Swindle: 63% Voter Registration Fraud – Atlas Shrugs

September 9, 2009 Leave a comment

obamacorn-150x150 I am sure that this is a one time thing and never occurred anywhere else.  Yeah, right.

ACORN is a racketeering organization whose specialty is sedition – overthrowing the good governance of the is great nation. Why hasn’t it been stripped and rendered illegal like the cosa nostra. What’s the difference except that the mafia was patriotic?

Van sends the latest on ACORN. Of 1400 registration cards, 888 were fraudulent. That’s 63% by his calculation. Not sure why the State Attorney is kissing their ass, though.  Maybe he wants their votes. You can’t tell me they haven’t changed the election results of many an election. Ahmadinejad took a poage from the ACORN playbook.

Meanwhile, the ACORN alumni in the White House has billions earmarked for these criminals. Nice.

11 accused of faking voter registration cards in Miami-Dade

Eleven people hired to register potential voters in Miami-Dade County before last year’s presidential election were being sought Wednesday for falsifying hundreds of voter registration cards.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office issued arrest warrants for each of the 11 suspects, all of whom worked for the local chapter of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, (ACORN).

A $2 Billion Chrysler Double-Cross? If So, It’s Virtually Invisible | NewsBusters.org

Here is the gist of the story:

  • Chrysler gets bailout.
  • During bankruptcy, secured lenders get paid first.  This is because the lent money to a financially unsound company and to do this, the law guarantees them first payments.
  • Obama forced banks who took TARP money to forgive most of this debt and accept $0.29 on the dollar.
  • Obama threatened non-TARP lenders to do the same.
  • The extra money saved during liquidation was given to the union, which is an unsecured lender and does not get first payments under the law.
  • Chrysler broken into “Old” and “New”.  Assets transferred to “New” Chrysler, debts remain at “Old” which is reduced to having $2 billion to pay lender.
  • Final step?  Treasury says that loan is due from “Old” Chrysler and takes all the money.

The result is that any secured lender in Chrysler that is not under government control got screwed out of BILLIONS of dollars.  Who did get all the money they were owed?  The unsecure lenders, the Union.

Be very careful if you do any business with the government.  To the Obama administration, you are a liability that can easily be zeroed out.  Ask the car dealers who are still waiting on “Cash-For-Clunkers” payments, but have to pay taxes on it.

The Obama administration and its car-czar group appear to be intent on teaching someone who got in their way a brutal lesson.

If there’s another way to interpret what is going on involving the "Old Chrysler," the company’s first-lien secured lenders, and the US Treasury, I want to know what it is.

Readers may recall that in May the government, in what columnist Michael Barone accurately characterized as "an episode of Gangster Government," bullied those same lenders into accepting payment well below that to which they were entitled. In early May, attorney Tom Lauria, representing a group of what he called "non-TARP lenders," told Detroit talk host Frank Beckmann that his group was willing to accept 50% payment of their claims (despite their entitlement under contract law to 100%) to avoid forcing Chrysler to liquidate.

The government had already convinced Chrysler’s first-lien TARP lenders (so named because these lenders are among those forced by Hank Paulson in October 2008 at figurative gunpoint to accept government "investment") to settle for 29%. Treasury and Barack Obama’s car-czar group insisted that the non-TARP lenders do the same, in the interest of giving unsecured creditors, principally the United Auto Workers union’s health care trust (whose rights under contract law were junior to those of the secured lenders) a bigger share, much of which was converted into stock of "new Chrysler." Under what Lauria described to Beckmann as an atmosphere of direct threats and intimidation, most of the holdouts buckled. After unsuccessful court appeals, the deal giving secured lenders $2.0 billion of the $6.9 billion involved went through.

That should have settled the matter; but as you’ll see, it didn’t.

Secured creditors’ claims stayed in the "Old Chrysler," which was stripped of most of its value. The ownership structure of "New Chrysler" that emerged turned out to be the following, according to this September 4 Bloomberg report — U.S. Government — 9.85%; Fiat Motors — 20%; Canadian government — 2.46%; the UAW’s health care trust — 67.69%. Secured creditors have no stake in "New Chrysler."

Obama Health-Care Speech Drinking Game

September 9, 2009 Leave a comment

obama drinking beer As Jim states, this could end up with alcohol poisoning.  To be able to survive this as an actual game, I would suggest a glass of juice with a drop or two of liquor.  Based on Obama’s history, you should be plastered by the end of it.

Hat tip to Jim Geraghty for the list.

One warning:  Feel free to add to this list, but under no circumstances should you add “I am” or “because of Bush” to the list.  You will be dead in under a minute.

I am adding:

  • “My plan will not increase the deficit” or “Deficit-neutral”
  • “There will be no rationing of health care”
  • “As president, I…”
  • “OBEY ME!  I AM THE ONE!”  – drink the whole bottle.

1. "The time to act is now."
2. "Critics of this plan would have us do nothing."
3. "For too long, we have spent too much money to get too little care."
4. "The current path is unsustainable. Nothing less than a complete overhaul will give Americans the care they deserve."
5. "Under my plan, nothing will change for you and your doctor."
6. "This plan will cover more people, and give better care for everyone."
7. "This plan will spend less money."
8. "This debate has been far too divisive, with proponents losing heart, and opponents losing fingers."
9. "The public option is the best choice, a serious solution, and absolutely necessary for real reform. (applause) Now, that’s not a veto threat."

10.  "Yes, some say we’ve overestimated the savings from preventative care, perhaps exponentially. But others who I will not name say we’ve underestimated the savings."

11. "It’s unsustainable for Americans like [insert tragic anecdote here]."
12. "It’s time to put aside silly, meaningless terms like ‘socialized medicine’ and ‘death panels’ and ‘the CBO says’ and ‘Douglas Elmendorf.’"
13. "People look at our national deficit ballooning, trillion after trillion, and ask, ‘How can we afford this?’ I look at the same numbers and ask, ‘How can we not?’"
14. "I am tired of hearing insurance companies complain about preexisting conditions. It, like the economy and two wars, is just another problem I inherited from my predecessor."
15. "As I have said many times before . . ."
16. "Last year, I attacked my opponent for proposing a new tax on employer-based health insurance benefits. Tonight, I will reach across the aisle . . ."
17. "Now I will attempt to undermine potential future rival Mitt Romney by talking about how his plan in Massachusetts is a lot like mine . . ."
18. "I look forward to the day when no 11-year-old girl has to ask me about mean signs in the parking lot."
19. "Everything about this plan tells us it will be as effective at providing care as the stimulus is at creating jobs."
20. "By some estimates, wellness programs could reduce our medical costs to zero."
21. "Let me be clear."
22. "The American people did not send you here to squabble. They sent you here to help me create a fantastic and historic bill-signing ceremony."
23. "Remember Ted Kennedy. One look at this man, and you knew he understood the importance of good health to all Americans."
24. "Sometimes your tonsils are just fine."
25. "As I said in March, the time to act is now."

Barney Frank wants Cabinet post – Atlas Shrugs – AYFS: You have GOT to be kidding me.

Liar_Liar_poster   The only position this freak should have is in a museum for incompetent politicians who got booted from office.  I can’t wait until 2010.

Having a boyfriend who runs a gay prostitution ring out of your house doesn’t make you a bad person. And neither does being a principal player in the worst financial meltdown since ’29. No, in the Obama Administration, those are the attributes that give you a leg-up on a Cabinet job. (hat tip Daniel Friedman)

Obama gives speech to kids: those who oppose it are insane. Bush gives speech to kids: GAO investigation and a Congressional hearing called

WASHINGTON - JANUARY 07: U.S. President Georg...

People have said to me, “It’s the same thing Bush did.”  No it’s not.

  1. Bush did not have study guides instructing children to write how they would help him achieve his agenda and have teachers hold them accountable to those goals.  Obama did.
  2. Schools showed videos prompting children to “be a servant to our president” and to “pledge their service to Barack Obama”.  Bush did nothing of the sort.
  3. Entire school district were not required to watch the speech and parents not allowed to decide not to view Bush.  They WERE required to watch Obama.
  4. Bush gave his speech as written and did not have to have it edited when he people went nuts.  Obama did.
  5. Anyone who disagreed with Obama’s speech were labeled everything from silly to sociopathic in the news.  After Bush’s speech, the Dems called for a GAO investigation and Congressional hearings.

The Obama Administration and Democrats were incensed that Americans objected to Obama’s proposed speech to schoolchildren, labeling the objections as everything from silly to paranoia. Compare that to the Democrats’ after-the-fact reaction to a similar speech by President George H.W. Bush:

“The controversy over President Obama’s speech to the nation’s schoolchildren will likely be over shortly after Obama speaks today at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. But when President George H.W. Bush delivered a similar speech on October 1, 1991, from Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington DC, the controversy was just beginning. Democrats, then the majority party in Congress, not only denounced Bush’s speech — they also ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate its production and later summoned top Bush administration officials to Capitol Hill for an extensive hearing on the issue.”

So Democrats authorized a GAO investigation and held an extensive Congressional hearing? That seems a bit … hysterical, especially since it came after they heard Bush’s speech and knew it was as unremarkable as Obama’s ended up.
