Ok.  I had to post this one.  How bizarre is this?

UNIONTOWN, Pa. —  A Pennsylvania history buff who recreates firearms from old wars accidentally fired a 2-pound cannonball through the wall of his neighbor’s home.

Fifty-four-year-old William Maser fired a cannonball Wednesday evening outside his home in Georges Township that ricocheted and hit a house 400 yards away.

The cannonball, about two inches in diameter, smashed through a window and a wall before landing in a closet. Authorities say nobody was hurt.

State police charged Maser with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Obama down, unions down…  hmmm, he seems to really want to make sure that when the Republicans take back the government, we do it with a huge amount of support.

If it wasn’t for the fact that you are destroying the nation, Obama, I would thank you.

The labor movement has a real public-relations problem, one of their own making, and Gallup quantified it yesterday in a new poll.  Support for unions has dropped below a majority for the first time in the 70 years that Gallup has tracked the question.  Most of the decline has taken place in the last year, and independents have been the key:

Gallup finds organized labor taking a significant image hit in the past year. While 66% of Americans continue to believe unions are beneficial to their own members, a slight majority now say unions hurt the nation’s economy. More broadly, fewer than half of Americans — 48%, an all-time low — approve of labor unions, down from 59% a year ago.

These results are from the 2009 installment of Gallup’s annual Work and Education survey, conducted Aug. 6-9. The 48% of Americans now approving of unions represents the first sub-50% approval since Gallup first asked the question in the 1930s. The previous low was 55%, found in both 1979 and 1981. …

AP: Despite Pleas from Father & Defense Secretary Gates, Decide To Run Photo of 21-Year Old Marine In Last Moments of His Life

Disgusting.  The lack of respect the AP has for our military and our nation is appalling. 

To "convey the grimness of war and the sacrifice of young men and women fighting it."

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is objecting “in the strongest terms” to an Associated Press decision to transmit a photograph showing a mortally wounded 21-year-old Marine in his final moments of life, calling the decision “appalling” and a breach of “common decency.”

The AP reported that the Marine’s father had asked – in an interview and in a follow-up phone call — that the image, taken by an embedded photographer, not be published.

Gates also called AP President and CEO Thomas Curley to ask him to reconsider. He rightly called it not an issue of "law, policy or constitutional right – but judgment and common decency.”

Well those bastards are fresh out.

Healthcare Industry Adds 544,000 Jobs During Recession, Will Media Notice? | NewsBusters.org

It’s ironic that the Health care industry is doing more to help the economy than Obama is.

Since the recession began in December 2007, employers have shed about 7 million nonfarm jobs sending the unemployment rate to 9.7 percent, a 26-year high.

By contrast, the healthcare industry — which according to Democrats and their media minions is in a state of crisis desperately needing reform — has actually added 544,000 workers.

If we had an honest media, given the current debate over healthcare and the pending legislation in Congress, the following paragraph from this morning’s announcement by the Labor Department would be an important component in every report about the August unemployment numbers:

Employment in health care continued to rise in August (28,000), with gains in ambulatory care and in nursing and residential care. Employment in hospitals was little changed in August; job growth in the industry slowed in early 2009 and employment has been flat since May. Health care has added 544,000 jobs since the start of the recession.

CIA leaks that it wants DoJ probe of leaks – I am sure CIA knows exactly who leaked and wants Team Obama to squirm

I said earlier that this would happen.  The CIA prosecution would result in leaks that the CIA wants out and will hurt the Obama administration.  Here is the first one.  It seems odd at first, but my guess is that the CIA knows full well who the leak was and it was someone high in the DoJ or Obama administration.  I think this was just a mild smack on the head to warn Team Obama what could be coming.

Eli Lake and Sara Carter report in a Washington Times exclusive that the CIA has asked the Department of Justice to open an investigation into the leak of a classified but never implemented program to assassinate al-Qaeda leaders.  Leon Panetta got bushwhacked by the revelation earlier this summer as his fellow Democrats tried to use it to rescue Nancy Pelosi from her rhetorical limb after she publicly accused the CIA of lying to Congress about its activities.  Now he wants to know who spilled the beans:

Power Line – Obama’s Honduran mistake

I have written about Honduras again and again and it just gets worse.  I am so sick of this administration finding groups who are allies of the US, who follow the law, and we turn on them.

I don’t know what more to say really.

At first it appeared that Barack Obama and his foreign policy team might be having a hard time distinguishing America’s friends from America’s enemies. With its treatment of Israel and Honduras, however, one can safely infer that they have a pretty good bead on the friend/enemy distinction. The problem is that in many cases they choose to undermine America’s friends and side with America’s enemies. They think they’re hitting a reset button or something equally sophisticated.

Today comes word that the Obama administration will cut off all non-humanitarian aid and may not recognize the result of Honduras’s upcoming presidential election, in an attempt to pressure the country’s interim government to accept the return of its deposed president. Honduras’s deposed president is the friend of Hugo Chavez who illegally sought to emulate Chavez’s ascent to permanent one-man rule. Honduras’s Supreme Court and Congress declined to cooperate. They support constitutional government. Like so much of Obama’s foreign policy, Obama’s tack on Honduras is obtuse and misguided.

Gateway Pundit: Busted. Van Jones Linked to 9-11 Truther Movement Back in **January 2002**

Van Jones is a communist and a Truther.  Yesterday it was a big topic of discussion.  Please visit this story on Michell Malkin for some great background and details on this one.  Then Team Obama came forward with Van Jones when he said… “Hey, wasn’t me!”  (If you saw Eddie Murphy RAW, you will remember the part)

Anyway, the liberals reacted just how expected.  “Sure, the chances of that are zero percent, so it must be true because Obama picked him.”

Well, it looks like (surprise, surprise) he was lying.

This opens up a huge number of questions for me

Did Team Obama vet this guy?

• If they did vet this idiot and not find this?  If so, I have serious questions concerning their ability to examine the people they are looking at.  Every person he has chosen MUST be examined with a fine-toothed comb to see what other issues there may be.  If something so obvious missed their notice, then what else did?  This is a serious national security issue
• If they did vet this idiot and found this issue, but still picked him: Personally, this is what I think happened, and it raises even more issues.  If this sort of insane liberal stupidity is accepted in his administration, what else is?  At this point, I don’t put anything beyond what Team Obama accepts, no matter how crazy or anti-American it is.
• If they didn’t even vet him:  Wow, this one is completely scary in so many ways.  These people could be plotting the destruction of our country and Constitution (oh wait, they already are) and Team Obama would have no idea.  I think this one is very unlikely.

Team Obama has proven itself again and again of being completely unable to pick qualified, sane people for these non-Constitutional czar positions, or any position for that matter.  Each and every one of them should have to go through an in depth check by the FBI and CIA to make sure they are safe for the country.  Team O has lost all credibility for doing this and the results of these checks need to be made public so everyone can see.

Yesterday, news broke out that Barack Obama’s communist Green Czar was a 9-11 Truther. The administration much later in the day released a statement saying Van Jones was "not now or ever" involved in the 9-11 Truther movement.
Jones said the petition he signed in 2004 did not reflect his views and that he did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name..

Unemployment Jumps to 9.7 Percent – Highest in 26 years.

What is wrong with these companies?  Don’t they realize that the One said that his stimulus plan worked?  They should be hiring like mad.  DAMN YOU BUSH!!!!!

The unemployment rate rose to 9.7 percent in August, the highest since June 1983, as employers eliminated a net total of 216,000 jobs.

Analysts expect businesses will be reluctant to hire until they are convinced the economy is on a firm path to recovery. Many private economists, and the Federal Reserve, expect the unemployment rate to top 10 percent by the end of this year.
