Our first Palinversary… a National Love Affair Turns One – Atlas Shrugs

Sarah Palin Kuwait 13b

I am a HUGE fan of Palin and I loved seeing this article.  Please go read the whole thing.

The one thing I like about Sarah more than anything is that she is truthful.  She say what she thinks, pulls no punches, and follows through.

You couldn’t write a more perfect resume. Raising her kids, involved in the PTA, elected mayor of her hometown where she stopped wasteful spending and cut property taxes, elected to the oil and gas commission where she stood up to lobbyists, special interests, the old boy network …. the rest is history.

What a year it has been for her and us. Looking back in hindsight, could the differences between Palin and Barack be more stark? Obama is all artifice. Palin is all real, all that. Obama is all style. Palin is all substance. Obama is anti-American. Palin is all-American. Obama holds the US military in contempt. Palin reveres the military. The military loves Palin. The military is on to Obama. The corrupt activist media loves Obama. The corrupt activist media loathes and libels Palin.

UAE Seizes Ship Bringing Weapons from North Korea To Iran… Team Obama Reacts By Inviting NK Diplomats to Hang Out With Dem Governor

August 29, 2009 Leave a comment

Ok, so in mid August, the UAE seizes a ship.  It has weapons on it that violate UN regulations.  Our close ally, Australia knows about it, because they own the ship.  This ship is bringing weapons from North Korea to Iran.  Both the UN and Australia knew about it, so you can be sure we were informed.

Team Obama’s reaction:  Have a Democrat governor wine and dine North Korean diplomats and recognize the fraudulently elected dictatorship in Iran.

When does Obama reach the level of trying to harm the United States interests, stability, and security that we finally do something about it?  Why isn’t there at least a very public call for Congressional investigation?  Not that Pelosi and Reid wouldn’t stop it, but at least call for it.

According to reporting today from AP, Reuters and CNN International, among others, on 15 August the United Arab Emirates seized an Australian-owned ship, the ANL Australia, flying a Bahamian flag, bound for Iran.  The UAE has only in the past 24 hours admitted to this event, after sending notification to the United Nations, as well as to both Tehran and P’yongyang.

The cargo?  Not the oil boring machinery declared on the ship’s manifest, but rocket-propelled grenades, and other small-arms munitions made in North Korea and apparently on their way to Iran.

Diplomats said both North Korea and Iran “appeared” to be in breach of Security Council resolution 1874, which banned all arms exports from North Korea and authorized states to search suspicious ships and seize and destroy banned items.

The resolution was imposed after North Korea’s second nuclear test. The UN Security Council imposed sanctions on Pyongyang after its first test in October 2006, but the measures were never enforced, mainly because China showed no interest in seeing them implemented.  There also appears to be a Chinese and Italian connection to this transaction.

What is not so clear…and this is where the Administration comes in…is that this seizure came on 15 August…and just a few days ago, Governor Richardson of New Mexico played host to North Korean diplomats here in the US as part of the Obama effort to establish better relations with North Korea.

Revelation

This disgusts me in so many ways.

Following last night’s episode (Thu. 8/27/09) of Penn & Teller’s show on Showtime, Bill Donahue, founder and president of the Catholic League said, "I have never seen a more defamatory, obscene and vicious show on TV." Folks, that is saying a lot. The man has dedicated his career to exposing anti-Catholicism.

According to Donahue, the foul-mouthed Penn Jillette billed last night’s episode as "payback" for 2,000 years of alleged "crimes" by the Catholic Church. Wrote Donahue:

Jillette said the "intolerance, greed, paranoia, hypocrisy and callous disregard for human suffering" was the hallmark of the Catholic Church. Others on the show branded the Church an "amoral" and "power hungry" institution that is just worried about its "cash flow."

For a half hour, Jillette aired a number of wild falsehoods and vicious lies about the Catholic Church. For example, Jillette claimed that a 1962 Vatican document was a secret cover-up for sex abuse. It definitely was not. (This false claim was first aired by CBS in 2003 and then repeated by the BBC in 2007. It has been repeatedly debunked.)

Donahue summarized the show, "The Nazis couldn’t have done better."

Word of the day: Barackracy

August 28, 2009 Leave a comment

So I was watching a video from an interview from after Katrina.  Well, during it, the guy kept mispronouncing “bureaucracy”

He kept saying “Barack-racy”.  How awesome a word is that?

A pre-post post: What religion means to me as an atheist.

I was about to post a story about Showtime attacking the Catholic faith and lying to do so.  It’s disgusting and vile.

Well, I have discussed religion with friends for years, and one thing really bothers me.  People who claim they are atheists, but are not.

First off, I am an atheist.  I was raised in a southern Baptist school and spent many years learning about Baptists, as well as Methodists.  I spent a lot of time studying other religions just for the heck of it.

Now, according to many atheists, I should be telling you how you are a moron if you believe in God, and you are a danger to society.  I should also be trying to convince you God is a myth and trying to get the government to ban all religion because of “separation of church and state”.  I won’t even get into the fact that the separation of church and state is not in the Constitution, no matter what most liberals claim.

No.  That is not an atheist, that is someone who is afraid a God MAY exist, is afraid of judgment, and wants to make sure everyone else is like them.  If no one believes in God, they won’t be in trouble.

I love this country and one of the things I hold as dear about it is the freedom of religion it has.  You are free to worship any religion you want without persecution.  How awesome is that?  A country, founded by religious people, was forward thinking enough to know that everyone would not believe what they did and that was protected.

The basis of the US legal system is grounded in the Judeo-Christian religion.  The very beginnings of the nation were carried on the hearts of those who looked to the Lord for guidance and blessings.  Read the Declaration of Independence and see for yourself.

“In God we trust”, “one nation, under God”, and so on; the US is intertwined with Christianity and a respect for all religions.

And as an atheist… I think it’s great!

WHAT???!!!!???

As long as you don’t force your beliefs on me, I am happy to know that you love God and are religious.  I am happy to discuss religion with you and happy to listen and learn.  I would also not dream of trying to convince you that your religion is wrong.  I would tell you what I believe and why if asked, but my lot in life is not to stand between you and God.

Religion gives people peace, guidance, strength, and any other positives they draw from their belief.  Religion also provides a strong moral compass and guidance.  What is wrong with that?  Why is that a bad thing?  It’s not.  When I see people pray, I lower my head and respect that belief.

I look at this nation and am happy to see the Ten Commandments in a courtroom and all the other trappings of religion I see.  These are the beliefs that shaped this nation, and if for no other reason, they represent the basis and history of our country.

To me, a true atheist is not angered by your belief.  Would I attack you, calling you names, mocking your intellect if you believe in the Loch Ness monster or ghosts?  Yet, for some reason, religion causes this strife from people who claim to be atheist.

The reactions you see can only be explained in one way.  These so called atheists are afraid.  Not that you believe in God, but that you may be right.

Please note:  This article is for people who are members of sane, non-violent, respectful religions.  I think we all know which one is left out.

Michelle Malkin » Hey, maybe someone should “claw back” Pay Czar’s big pay!

Kenneth Feinberg

Hypocrisy seems to be the norm with the Obama administration, doesn’t it?

My column last week on Pay Czar Kenneth Feinberg spotlighted his declaration of authority to retroactively “claw back” CEO compensation packages offered by TARP recipients that he deemed “excessive.”

Reuters reports today that His Highness the Special Master of Compensation himself has raked in some hefty compensation packages:

The “pay czar” tasked by the U.S. government with ruling on the eye-popping compensation of some of Wall Street’s top earners is far from a stranger to big paychecks and the trappings of wealth.

Kenneth Feinberg made $5.76 million last year as a partner in his Washington law firm, Feinberg Rozen LLP, according to a government ethics filing obtained by Reuters.

And his assets, which include a stake in his law firm, two homes and dozens of investments, are worth anywhere from $11 million to $37 million, according to the filing, which places assets in broad value categories.

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Honduras offers return, but not office

August 28, 2009 Leave a comment

zelaya  I have covered Honduras in several posts, as well as Obama’s moral and legal corruption in turning on Honduras for upholding its constitution.  Here’s the latest…

While the US prepares to cut aid to Honduras for enforcing its own laws, the man they want returned to power in Tegulcigapa has an offer to come home — but not to return to office.  Roberto Micheletti, the interim president selected by the Honduran parliament, has offered to resign as part of a deal allowing Manuel Zelaya to return to his country.  Zelaya has to renounce any claim to office in order to accept:

The interim president of Honduras has offered the man he replaced after a June coup the chance to return to the country on the condition that both renounce claims to the presidency, a negotiator said Thursday.

Arturo Corrales, a member of a three-man Honduran panel seeking an end to the standoff, told The Washington Times that Roberto Micheletti was willing to make the concessions to restore peace and prosperity to Honduras following the coup against Manuel Zelaya.

The offer represents a turnaround by Mr. Micheletti, who has insisted until now that Mr. Zelaya should have been arrested rather than deported to Costa Rica on June 28. Mr. Zelaya was deposed by the military after he sought to change the constitution to allow him to run for a second term.

A former Clinton administration official pointedly remarked that the ball is now in Zelaya’s court, and that this offer is a test of his sincerity:

Lanny Davis, a prominent Washington attorney who represents the Honduran Latin American Business Council, said the new proposal “shows Mr. Micheletti is not concerned about power — he is offering to resign entirely from public life. … The question is, does Mr. Zelaya acknowledge that no one, even the president, is above the law?”

New DHS laptop search policy: crap sandwich, fancier bread – Ars Technica

August 28, 2009 Leave a comment

"Where someone may not feel that the inspection of a briefcase would raise significant privacy concerns because the volume of information to be searched is not great," the report notes, "that same person may feel that a search of their laptop increases the possibility of privacy risks due to the vast amount of information potentially available on electronic devices."

So, DHS gets it: our laptops allow us to carry our lives around with us, and losing them is not only a tremendous inconvenience, but raises legitimate fears of exposing irrelevant personal information.

Just because they get it, however, doesn’t mean that they’re going to act upon that knowledge in any significant manner. The new policy statement sets a few standards and limits for what they do with hardware and data, but doesn’t really change the dynamics of the seizures.

Congressional Research Service: ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants

August 28, 2009 Leave a comment

No one on our side had any questions about this.  Its glad to see others are acknowledging it.

Since HR3200 doesn’t require people to establish citizenship or legal residency before applying to exchanges for health insurance, including the public option, taxpayer money will certainly flow to illegal immigrants:

In what he called the “first myth” being spread by critics of his proposal for a government-run health care system, Obama said they are wrong in claiming illegal immigrants will be covered: “That is not true. Illegal immigrants would not be covered. That idea has not even been on the table.” Obama said.

Well, Mr. President, that idea must have been tucked under a stack of background briefing papers over there in the corner of the table because the Congressional Research Service (CRS) says this about H.R. 3200, the Obamacare bill approved just before the recess by the House Energy and Commerce Committee chaired by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA:

Under H.R. 3200, a ‘Health Insurance Exchange’ would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option…H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange.”
