The doctors would like to have a word with you Obama…about your tonsils.
In reply, the AAO-HNS stated, “We, too, are in favor of evidence-based medicine that supports quality patient care. President Obama’s statement highlights the complexity of medical decisions like this. However, the AAO-HNS is disappointed by the President’s portrayal of the decision making processes by the physicians who perform these surgeries. In many cases, tonsillectomy may be a more effective treatment, and less costly, than prolonged or repeated treatments for an infected throat.
“For the past several years, the Academy has been developing clinical guidelines based on evidence and outcomes research, including ‘Quality of Life after Tonsillectomy,’ a January 2008 supplement to the journal Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. We are in agreement with the President’s statement that physicians, patients, and hospitals should make the decisions, based on the evidence, about what’s best for patient care.” — BusinessWire
I just don’t understand how all these doctor’s could be so deluded to not agree with the One. He obviously knows better than you simple physicians.

Long before this comment from the POTUS, the medical establishment has come to the conclusion that most tonsillectomies were indeed redundant, and their use and number has been greatly reduced. I read an article criticizing Obama’s statement by an ENT jounalist in Conn., she should certainly be aware that the reduced need for these operations has become accepted. Her other anti-Obama article was telling. It criticized Obama’s book reading recommendations just on the fact that they came from him, and we needn’t read them, because we are not president. Not a word was put to paper criticizing the book. It was a bad recommendation because it came from black democrat Obama, period. And just because he was elected president, that doesn’t mean he has the right to suggest a book for us to read. I don’t think it was an executive order. Perhaps it was one of his “Death Panels” that reviewed and suggested the book. Too funny indeed. I am not a great fan at this time of this moderate, boring, milquetoast president. However, he won, he is president. You lost, get over it. Really.
