Franken the "politician" pushes his first bill….and its a good one????

July 20, 2009 1 comment

doggieOk, alot of things have been going on lately that pretty much has me thinking that satan is ice skating and having skiing competitions in hell right now.

If you have been keeping an eye on things, you have watched the whole fiasco that caused Al Franken to become a politician instead of a failed comedian. Then, during the Sotomayor hearings, he asks a question about Perry Mason. Well, I was waiting for his first bill. I figured it would be something like “Arrest Bush” or kill all Republicans. I am so damn confused.

The first bill he is pushing… “Increase Number of Service Dogs Available to Veterans”

Franken wrote in an opinion piece published Monday in the Minneapolis Star Tribune that his proposed pilot program will train “a statistically significant number of dogs” to measure the benefits to veterans living with devastating injuries sustained on the battlefield.  — Fox News

Al, I am shocked and absolutely pleased that you would offer a program like this.  A compassionate, inexpensive, pro-military program is a great thing to see, regardless of what party you come from.

I have to admit, I am sure it was a fluke and you will do something that will make you dispise the fact that you managed to get elected, but feel free to prove me wrong.  I will happily apologize.

I really have nothing to add to this article.  I think the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and the rest of them worded things quite well.

Great article, Closing Velocity

Yeah, who needs defense against Russia?

Surprise – Mayo Clinic slams ObamaCare

July 20, 2009 1 comment

mayoHa!  One more to add to the list.  The Mayo Clinic had this to say about ObamaCare:

Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill – including insurance for all and payment reform demonstration projects – the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite.

In general, the proposals under discussion are not patient focused or results oriented. Lawmakers have failed to use a fundamental lever – a change in Medicare payment policy – to help drive necessary improvements in American health care. Unless legislators create payment systems that pay for good patient results at reasonable costs, the promise of transformation in American health care will wither. The real losers will be the citizens of the United States.  –  Mayo Clinic Health Policy Blog

Ouch.  This is the same May Clinic that Obama praised for doing things right:

“And that the measure of the quality of care is not quantity, but whether or not it is making you better. Now, what we’ve seen is that there’s some communities and some health systems that do this very well. Mayo Clinic, a classic example. In Rochester, Minnesota. People go there. They– spend about 20-30 percent less than some other parts of the country, and yet have better outcomes.”  –  ABC News

So, once again, we see that the ObamaCare plan has nothing to do with providing quality care or fixing the problems in the health care system.  Its about socialism, pure and simple.  Increasing peoples dependency on the government to protect their own power.

The more people look at this plan, the more they hate it and Team Obama is doing everything to hide how bad things are and force through a vote as soon as possible, with as little notice as possible.

There is a really great line from a woman in the crowd at about 2:50 into the video.

Watch it all.

We need Obamacare right now! Why? 84% are ok with what we have.

obamacareZogby International just did a poll on health care.  Here is one you won’t see on the evening news.

Key survey findings included that 84 percent of those who are currently insured are satisfied with their health care. — Zogby International

It also shows that a majority of the of Americans are opposed to the bill the House submitted.

Now tell me again, why do we need Obamacare?  Oh yeah, to cover the abortions and illegal aliens.  I forgot.

I just posted about Michael Steele.  It looks like he is finally getting it right.

Asked if Obama’s health care plan represented socialism, Steele responded: “Yes. Next question.”  –Ace Of Spades HQ

On July 16, 2009, Apollo 11 launched from the Kennedy Space Center and headed for history.  Today, July 20, in 1969, Commander Neil Armstrong stepped out of the lunar module at 10:56 p.m. EDT onto the surface of the moon.

MoonLanding“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”, the first words uttered as his feet touched the moon, because famous across the world.

Today is the 40th anniversary of this amazing achievement of mankind’s bravery and ingenuity.

To keep with the site theme of teaching the stupid, let’s take a look at what the space program has brought us.

Michael Steele rips Dems for a Health Care "Cabal"

steeleI really liked Michael Steele as a politician and was very disaappointed when he lost his bid for office.  So, it was with a great deal of hope when he became the RNC chairman.  Then he quickly became an idiot, opening his mouth and hurting the party

Well, he has restored some of my respect for him.  Fox News reported on his statements to the National Press Club:

“Obama-Pelosi want to start building a colossal, closed health care system where Washington decides. Republicans want and support an open health care system where patients and doctors make the decisions,” – FoxNews

My favorite line?

“he doesn’t want to spend more than we have, he doesn’t want the deficit to go up, he doesn’t want to live off borrowed money. But he also told us he didn’t want to run an auto company”

Way to go Steele.  Keep it up.  Hopefully, we can get the GOP to stop acting like a bunch of beaten dogs and start telling the public what the press won’t.
